Reninge Oud Bruin is brewed according to the tradition of the Flemish Oud Bruin and has an alcohol content of 6%. This beer is mixed with a brown beer that has been rumored in oak barrels for over twelve months. The maturation in oak barrels and the mixed refermentation in the bottle give the beer a complex, intense and delicately sour taste. During bottling, the beer is mixed with a young brown beer.

This beer owes its name to the old brown production that Reningse brewers maintained before the First World War. In 1904, the Criem brewery on the village site in Reninge had an intense old brown production, which was consumed far beyond the village. Brouwer Croigny from Lo obtained in 1907 [in Ostend] a gold medal for his old brown beer. 'The old brown beer had been known for years in the whole region of Veurne-Ambacht for the finest, the most pious and the tastiest of all beers,' according to the newspapers at the time. Reninge Oud Bruin is offered in bottles of 0.37 cl. and 0.75 cl. and closed with a champagne cork and packed in a paper wrapper. Reninge Oud Bruin won two gold medals at #BADF editions 2017 and 2018.
